We are a private barn on 52 acres in prime horse country. My husband and I are avid horse enthusiasts that enjoy foxhunting and trail riding.
During the hunting season (September - March), we regularly hunt 4-5 days a week. We trail ride 3 days a week in the summer. Our barn has seven stalls and a heated wash stall and tack room. We have lots and lots of beautiful grass turnout fields with sheds.
Full time salaried Groom/Rider position in Middleburg, VA with health benefits. Responsible person to care for and ride our 7 foxhunters and live on the farm. Duties include: - daily feeding and inspection of the 7 horses (2x/day) - holding for farrier and vet - grooming for foxhunts (especially during hunt season 3-4X/week) - layups - regular riding to keep horses fit for the season (2-5 horses/day). Tack, stall and barn cleaning. Candidates must be tidy, reliable, have a solid work ethic and experience in caring for horses, grooming and riding. Must be able to recognize illness or lameness. Must have good communication, time management and record keeping skills. We have 7 off the track thoroughbreds foxhunters. Position seeks an upper level jumping background. Timid riders or riders who don’t like riding cross country need not apply. Nice apartment over barn with full utilities, laundry, high speed internet and DIRECTV included. Must be at least 21. No smokers, drugs or drama. Must have at least 3 excellent job references and riding references.

We are looking for someone that wants to stay with us for the long term. Groom turn over is always hard on a horse operation. We want to employ someone that has a cheerful, positive attitude and that is professional in their approach to work and the horses. Horses are our love and hobby and so we don't want any drama in the barn. We are positive, upbeat and friendly people who are easy to work with and communicate with.
