40 acre horse farm 40 miles north of New Orleans. The farm is located in a horsey area of south Louisiana with lots of similar farms around. We have a 10 stall barn with 2 wash racks, feed room, laundry room/WC, tack room, office and the usual other spaces one finds at a horse farm. We have a large outdoor arena, x-country field, grass jump field and 5 large paddocks with run-in sheds.
We are looking for someone who has the skill set and experience to run our private 3 horse barn efficiently and who knows how to properly care for and groom show horses. The perfect candidate will be mature, responsible, experienced, self-motivated and a true "horseperson." No riding or teaching required.
Additional skills we are looking for include the ability to drive truck/horse trailer, drive a tractor and mow paddocks and performing general farm maintenance duties (i.e., mend fences, paint run-in sheds, etc.).
Job duties include cleaning stalls and buckets, feeding, turning out/bringing in, grooming, tacking and cooling down three horses daily, night checking, helping out at local shows, plaiting, clipping, bandaging, etc. Essentially, we are looking for a caretaker to handle the day to day requirements of a small private horse farm.
2,000 sq. ft. double wide trailer with stainless appliances in kitchen, wood burning fireplace, large master bedroom with soaking tub and separate shower in master bath. Open plan for kitchen, dining and living room and two guest rooms which share a bathroom. There is a covered porch overlooking the front jump field. The housing will not be shared with anyone else.
