One of the staples in the Ocala Equestrian community is seeking a new Controller/Finance Manager as the individual currently in that seat nears retirement. This is a diverse and exciting position needing an experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate individual to join the team! Time is of the essence, as training will be provided from the current controller before they retire.
The Controller/Finance Manager will lead financial activity / operations including accounting, financial analysis, cash operations, purchasing and compliance. Manage the timely preparation and analysis of the financial results and establish and maintain the necessary internal controls required to safeguard the co-op’s assets, to ensure integrity and compliance with Industry, State, and Federal regulations, and to ensure that the financial results reflect established accounting and financial standards. Responsible for providing financial analysis and decision support to the property leadership team, co-op board leadership, as needed and at regularly scheduled monthly board meetings.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops and manages finance and reporting.
- Oversees credit lines that are extended to buyers at auction.
- Coordinates monthly accounting close cycle as well as monthly sales tax filing as well as financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Manages and coordinates external audits.
- Ensures company has adequate internal controls.
- Manages, reconciles and forecasts accounts.
- Manages capital project expenditures with purchasing, finance, and other leaders.
- Coordinates various insurance issues to ensure coverage and minimize risk.
- Recommends and leads new efforts to improve performance.
- Stays abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
- Provides financial analysis and support of various projects and decisions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or better in Finance or related field.
- 5+ Years of experience in accounting, financial reporting and analysis
- Excellent analytical, financial, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills
- Strong demonstrated management and leadership skills including ability to lead a diverse team
- Detail oriented, professional demeanor, strong organization and project management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with senior/executive management
- Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to cultivate working relationships throughout the organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters or better.
- Equine Industry Experience/Knowledge
- Certified Public Accountant
