About The Facility
This is a picturesque small, private, family owned Hunter/Jumper facility is looking for a full time individual to stay year round in New Paltz, NY. There are currently 5 retired horses, 2 donkeys, and a small flock of chickens that need to be tended to year round. This facility is primarily an upscale H/J operation, but during the winter the show horses head to Wellington, and the retirees get to use the stable! This position is considerably more active in the summers than the winters, as the show horses return for summer and support will be needed to cover days off and keep the day running smoothly.
Job Description
This is the ideal position for someone who wants to have a quiet position tending to a small group of older horses and farm animals, while living on a beautiful and peaceful farm in New Paltz, NY. This facility is seeking a trustworthy and knowledgeable individual to care for their retired horses during the winter, and who can handle minor maintenance on the facility as needed. During the winters, the horses will need to be brought into the barn overnight, and blanketed accordingly. They will be fed breakfast, lunch, dinner, and lates, and should be given a proper once-over every day. In the summers, the horses are vastly happy staying on pasture board full time, so this position will primarily involve facility maintenance, helping in the barn with the show horses once they return from FL, and being the trusted stay-at-home individual when the show crew is away competing. This is a lovely, private, family owned facility looking for a longterm, reliable addition to their team.
