Wright’s Gate Farm is a Dressage competition/training barn that takes pride in providing excellent care for their equine partners. We have 16 horses on sight. 10 are stalled and 6 are pasture horses that are either used for our small breeding program or retired. The breeding program has just begun an we are expecting our first foal August of 2022. We focus on the Iberian breeds in our breeding program but all breeds are welcome to be in training/boarded out our facility. We have two barns. The main barn has 10 stalls and is used for boarders/horses in training and the second barn is a foaling barn which has an apartment above the stables. Both barns have hot/cold water wash racks, tack room, laundry room, bath room, fans, etc. We have 25-30 acres of fenced pastures for our horses to go out in during the day or at night depending on their needs. Each pasture has a run in shed for protection from the weather. We also have a covered arena with fans/lights and a round pen. The property also has over 100 acres of trails for everyone to enjoy.
The following is a list of duties that are required for the Assistant Barn Manger position at Wrights Gate Farm, 5 days a week. The tasks must be performed completely and with a good attitude. This is a competition barn and therefore the expectations for the care/handling of horses is high. Attention to detail, strong work ethic, and self-motivation are of upmost importance when working at our facility. He/she must have good personal skills as they will be required to work around boarders and students. You will receive 2 days off a week and we can allow some flexibility as to which days.
A. AM AND PM BARN SHIFTS
1. Letting out and feeding farm dogs/cat
2. Bringing horses in/turning horses out
3. Picking horses feet when they come in (check to see if all shoes are on)
4. Feeding grain to both stabled horses and pasture board horses
5. Cleaning stalls
6. Dumping/filling water buckets
7. Filling hay nets
8. Steaming hay for required horses
9. Putting blankets on/taking blankets off on in winter
10. Putting fly sheets on/taking fly sheets off in summer
11. Blowing barn
12. Emptying manure buckets in wash racks
13. Cleaning wash racks
14. Doing laundry as needed
15. Filling feed bins as needed
16. Rinse out wheelbarrows after each shift
17. Rinse out feed buckets after each shift
18. Lunch hay
2. WEEKDAY EXTRAS
A. Monday-Wednesday-Friday
i. Groom Wrights Gate Farm pasture horses
ii. Bleach/scrub feed buckets after AM or PM shift
iii. Cleaning cobwebs off of exterior stall walls/windows
iv. Cleaning cobwebs out of tack room, bathroom, laundry room, feed room, hay room
v. Cleaning tack room, bathroom, laundry room, feed room, hay room
vi. Blow out shavings storage shed thoroughly
vii. Blow out storage room
3. WEEKEND EXTRAS
A. Saturday-Sunday
i. Dusting and removing cobwebs inside each stall
ii. Bleaching and scrubbing all water buckets
iii. Cleaning all stall feed bins
iv. Wiping down all feed containers and shelves in feed room
v. Bathing retired barn horses in the summer (bi-weekly)
4. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Holding horses for farrier, massage therapist, and chiropractor (1-2 times a month)
ii. Basic medical care such as wrapping legs, wrapping feet, sweat wraps, giving IM injections, giving oral medications, etc.

Pasture board for one horse
Small barn apartment that has all brand new applies such as washer/dryer, stove, oven, refrigerator/freezer, sink, microwave, and cabinets. The apartment overlooks horses out in pasture and has plenty of privacy!
