This approximately 400-acre thoroughbred breeding farm has just celebrated its 50-year anniversary! We currently have four stallions and foal around 100 babies each season. We raise the foals to yearling age and then they depart the farm for breaking and training in southern states.
We are seeking responsible individuals with horse farm experience. Experience with thoroughbreds is preferred.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to daily watering and feeding, stall cleaning, water tub cleaning, hay distribution, fence repair, light barn care/repair, weed whacking, lawn mowing, etc. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., drive (or learn quickly and safely) a tractor and other farm equipment. Candidates who can work independently and have strong problem-solving skills are preferred. The ability to drive a truck and a horse van are also desirable. We prioritize horse health and safe farm practices.
Employer contributes to health insurance after probationary period. Annual holiday bonuses and vacation accruals are also offered. Employer pays double-time for hours worked on five holidays. Sick time accrual is in accordance with New York State's regulation.
On-site housing is a possibility. There is no smoking allowed in any barns and other farm buildings.
