About The Facility
Palatine Stables is an equestrian facility owned and operated by Palatine Park District specializing in Hunters and Jumpers and offering something for all ages and levels of riders. Our safety oriented program focuses on all areas of horsemanship and our variety of well-trained school horses can accommodate all levels of riding. In addition to lessons, Palatine Stables offers summer camps, boarding, training, leasing opportunities, student horse shows, and participation at NIHJA, ISC, and some A rated horse shows.
Job Description
Under the general direction of the Trainer/Barn Manager, the Assistant Manager/Trainer is responsible for assisting with the overall operations of the Palatine Stables; lesson program management, part-time staff supervision and care of horses. This is a full time, exempt position with a comprehensive benefit package.
Job Requirements
Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience and knowledge or equivalent experience of the equine industry, stable operations, knowledge of daily horse care, behaviors and health. Required to have basic veterinary skills and knowledge including: wound care, injections, bandaging techniques and medication. Strong supervisory skills for part-time staff required.
